Art, Architecture and Design

Aspects of art and design have infiltrated aspects of my research since its inception. A career in art and design was one of my intended  paths when I was younger and I still aspire to bring creative practice into my daily work.

As my research has developed, I’ve encountered a range of approaches to art, from discussions within architecture which connect with debates about digital cities, to questions about the use of biotechnology within artistic practice. Since 2003, I’ve given lectures on posthumanism and emerging technology at the Glasgow School of Art, Royal College of Art and am now a Fellow at the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology in Liverpool.

I was also on the Executive Committee for the International Symposium on Electronic Arts in Belfast during 2009 and Co-Chair of the Media Art Histories conference in Liverpool during 2011. My latest book discusses this theme: Human Futures: Art in an Age of Uncertainty
